Big festival to celebrate Li and Miao people Sanya took a day off on 31 March to allow everyone to take part in the Li and Miao celebrations of their traditional holiday. There were ceremonial fires and beach bonfires, beach games and sports competitions, bamboo pole dancing and excellent food, including whole roasted oxen. The song festival was a key part of the events.
